The Keeping Stone

The emphasis of Fictitious Landscapes was on young people (12-18yrs.) gaining an insight into traditions, myths and folklore in Derbyshire. We also gave the young people an oppportunity to record their own culture and tradition, however new or old these traditions may be. A working process was developed to weave distant stories and ancient customs together, from the experiences of young people living in rural Derbyshire today, and create new stories for a wider audience. Besides extensive visual art workshops that led to a publication, the participants could translate their own experiences into professionally produced video shorts. This project was shortlisted for best comedy at the 'First Lights' awards at Leicester square, London.
